Season ends with british victory
Today's race was something different as this was the last one for a while.
Peter did really well and the Racer was at last in top condition. After the qualification we were happy with the ranking of 5 and somwhere in our soul just hoped it could go really well this time.
Peter had a very nice run in the top twelwe later with an outstanding time which could have been enough for the podium as well. But 2 penalties for two incorrect level gate destroyed all our hopes.
Peter finished 9th while Hannes won the race in Lausitz.
The all over championship's winner is Paul Bonhomme followed by Hannes Arch, third Nigel Lamb.

One year break for Red Bull Air Race in 2011
Red Bull Air Race GmbH confirmed that for the future success and development of the sport, the World Championship will take a one-year break in 2011.
The organization will use this opportunity to fast track the technological advancements currently in the making which would further improve the already high levels of safety.
There is a need to revise the main organization and commercial areas to realize the full potential of the sport including the development and reinforcement of strong host city partnerships which would secure a long term race calendar.

Last race in the season: Lausitz
As this week Red Bull Air Race headquarters announced the bad news, Budapest Race is also cancelled, Lausitz will be the last round of the Championships.
Nobody would ever imagine that this could happen, but happened after 6 years of succesful race in the heart of the Hungarian capital.
We just hope that the race will come back to Budapest in 2011.

Final round of the Red Bull Air Race World Championship 2010 in Portugal Cancelled
The Red Bull Air Race GmbH today announced that the final round of the 2010 World Championship, which was to be held in Portugal on 4th and 5th September, will be cancelled due to the unexpected delays in reaching a revised host city agreement. The negotiation process with Tourism Portugal and the associated cities of Lisbon, Porto and Gaia was positive, however time ran out to execute a race of this size, complexity and of the quality expected of the strong fan base in Portugal.
The 2010 race was originally announced on 21st December 2009 to take place in Portugal's capital city, Lisbon. Earlier this year the City of Lisbon, in an effort to secure a longer term agreement for Portugal, approached the Cities of Porto and Gaia to develop a joint proposal which would have seen the race alternate between the north and south of Portugal over the next four years.
"The Red Bull Air Race is committed to keeping Portugal on the race calendar, however, due to the delays in finalising the agreement, we were faced with making a tough decision to cancel the race for 2010 due to the time available to plan and execute a quality event." said Mr Bernd Loidl, CEO Red Bull Air Race GmbH.
"Making such a decision is not easy and I would like to take this opportunity to thank our valued sponsors, broadcast partners and fans around the world for their support and understanding. I would also like to thank the Cities of Lisbon, Porto and Gaia, along with Tourism of Portugal and Tourism of Lisbon, as every effort was made from all sides to reach a revised agreement; however, time simply ran out. We hope to continue discussions to see the race return to Portugal again in the near future," Loidl said.
Just five years since it was officially launched, the Red Bull Air Race World Championship has evolved to become the most exhilarating and fastest growing motor sport on the planet and has touched down in spectacular locations around the world from the beaches of Rio de Janeiro to the West Coast of Australia, and most recently its debut in New York on the Hudson River.
The Red Bull Air Race World Championship is a visual spectacle unlike any other, delivering raw sporting drama set amidst vibrant landscapes. The sport has quickly built a staggering following around the world with millions captivated by the exciting and dynamic racing format.

Team Besenyei is to finish test flights
The second race is over now where the tests of the Corvus Racer 540 ran well.
Actually Peter's habit hasn't changed as he is still very happy with the new plane- and will be more and more.
The developments won't stop, new paint shop, modified wings and other 100 little steps to go further and as the race schedule gives a little time to breath, it will be perfect to make the plane more competitive.
It is right now as it can be seen in New York. Peter had passed to the S8. In this round he wanted to be faster just the timing was not perfect as he got 2 sec penalty when he passed the start gate with 2 mph more speed than allowed and than he topped this time with another 2 sec penalty for incorrect level.
His time was fabulous and as he said- he enjoyed the flight.
Mr.Paul Bonhomme took first place, Nigel Lamb was second fastest and American Kirby Chambliss made third.

Racer on the track in Windsor Red Bull Air Race
Content
We made it! Peter was not on the podium, but this was not our goal this time. All we wanted to be competitive and test the planes behaviour on track under real pressure with tight time limits and the Racer 540 passed the tests perfect. After having more than two years of development on this brand new and unique aircraft our efforts were not useless. Having our own developed aircraft in the Red Bull Air Race is more than just a big succes for us and this means as well, that we are now on a new path. Hundreds of little steps still to go and all this steps will be make a big one. Herewith we would like to say a big thanks to Eric Fauteux and to Corey Fice who did an unbeliiveable great job as well as Peter Besenyei's technician Jim Reed begin_of_the_skype_highlighting end_of_the_skype_highlighting. With all of their work all the way it could not have happened. 10th place may not be that impressive for those who haven't seen all the story we have gone through but we are pretty satisfied with all this.

Challenges all the way
After having some test flights before training one we realized that the engine's performance is a bit far form what we expected. As the training 1 ended Peter reported engine failure and after checking the engine's log in the computer, it showed extreme high rpm. It means as well that the engine was overloaded and this could lead to failure, so we decided to change engine back to that one we mounted in in Perth.
Right now the whole team is working on that to have the Racer ready for training 2.
With this engine Peter was really satisfied this seems to be the best and only solution.
On the other hand the Thunderbolt engine in the Corvus was an angle valve, which is much heavier than the MXS's engine.

Succesful test flights with the hungarian Corvus Racer 540
After a lot of tiny and bigger issues, Peter came back smiling from the test flight in Windsor, Canada.
Just some days left to the Windsor Red Bull Air Race, so it was really time to get this job done.
Now it seems, that there are no more questionmarks: Peter can fly the Racer 540 at the race, and nobody can ignore it anymore!

Corvus- New Age of flightstyle
Just after the Rio race, the team headed back to Budapest, but just for short. The new Racer is in Canada now, and the Corvus team started their work on it. Assemble the plane, do some test flights and after the Thunderbolt powerplant arrives to the secret spot of assembly, it will be mounted in.
All we hope, that Peter can fly the new Racer at Windsor Red Bull Air Race on the 5th-6th of June!
So smoke on for the first race-take-off of the Corvus Racer 540!
Till than, enjoy a video of the two seater Corvus Phantom, the bestseller of Corvus Aircraft company.

Peter's comment after trainings
Peter Besenyei (5th) remained safe in the upper half of the table but felt he had little more to squeeze from his MXS-R, which is one of the least modified among the teams. “As usual, I fly better and better times and maybe tomorrow I can fly even better but I am very close to the limit of the plane so I don’t expect a big improvement,” said the Hungarian pilot who is pinning his hopes of a comeback on the new Corvus Racer, expected to be unveiled for the Windsor race. “If I can fly a 1:22 tomorrow without penalties then it should be OK. Any aerodynamic improvements here are of course helping people in the track.”

South America's favourite ride--
It's only 6 days to go till Rio, which is a real spectacular location for the fast and furios Air Race..
Team Besenyei is ready for it, and we just hope, that the weather conditions will be on our side.
Knowing, that our aircraft is not the strongest one in the field, but knowing that we have one of the best pilots gives us the hope to get this time what we all wnat so long ago. Podium again.
Jimbo, our tech has done all his best so stay tuned for the race!
Till than, just a bit of the fun we had in Perth..

Stop No.2 Perth, Australia
Just a week after Abu Dhabi race, the show goes on in the land of kangoroos.
Perth will be the host of the second race.
Our team has decided just in Abu Dhabi that we change the engine, as which we have right now in the plane is too heavy and weak. The engine ordered for spare engine has been delivered on Saturday to Perth/Jandakot airport, so we started to mount it in.
For tomorrow, we will be ready and of course we are curios how it works.
It should be stronger and lighter, so with this one Peter will have better chances.

Peter is on podium again!!
After a challenging race here in Abu Dhabi, Peter is on the podium with 3rd best time!!
It's a great feeling to be back on the podium, and see the three most experienced pilot there.
Paul, Nigel Lamb and Peter are definetly deserved it.
After Mike Goulians plane had some technical issues, and due to this, he could not start, we could be sure that Peter will be on the podium.
He had two penalties in the last run, but it did not influence the result.
Congratulations!

Paul Bonhomme - Qualifying Session, Abu Dhabi

ABU DHABI – Austria’s Hannes Arch won the first point of the 2010 Red Bull Air Race World Championship by posting the fastest time in Qualifying on Friday ahead of Saturday’s season opener in Abu Dhabi. Defending champion Paul Bonhomme of Britain made a thrilling dash to try to beat Arch and snatch the one point away from his rival but hit an Air Gate at the end of his run and ended up a disappointing third. Britain’s Nigel Lamb got second while Australia’s Matt Hall took fourth.
Arch, the 2008 world champion, was delighted to get back on top after Bonhomme narrowly beat him for the 2009 title at the end of last season. On Friday Arch, the Team Abu Dhabi pilot, delighted the Qualifying Day crowd of 45,000 with a superb time of 1:12.78 on the 5.6km long track, 1.55 seconds ahead of Lamb. Bonhomme got third on the strength of his first Qualifying time of 1:14.45, which left him 1.67 behind Arch. After watching Bonhomme slice open the final gate in Q2 from a TV monitor in his hangar, Arch smiled and exchanged high fives with his teammates back in the hangar.
“The secret to winning the point today is that all the effort we put into the plane came together,” said Arch. “The job they did has made a really fast airplane. The problem before was me. I was nervous in the days before Qualifying and I felt the pressure from Paul as he was flying really fast and never gave me any margin. I really had to give everything and try to stay calm.”
Arch had posted the fastest times in two of the four training sessions going into Qualifying while Bonhomme had beaten him in the other two sessions, setting the stage for another memorable showdown over the turquoise waters of the Arabian Gulf in front of Abu Dhabi’s towering skyline.
Bonhomme, flying last, was 0.12 seconds ahead of Arch at the midway point in the final Qualifying run but lost his lead on the second lap. He would still have have ended up a close second. But instead the British ace slashed open the final Air Gate, picking up a careless six-second penalty. It was a day to forget for the normally error-free Bonhomme, who had also picked up a 2-second penalty for incorrect wing level flying through an Air Gate near the very end of his first Qualifying run an hour earlier.
“I wasn’t expecting it,” Bonhomme said of the pylon hit. “About a hundred yards before the Air Gate I realised what was going to happen. I was just trying to save time and went straight for it.”
Lamb, who has introduced striking new winglets that curl up at the end of his wings, was a sensational second on a hot day on the track alongside Abu Dhabi’s Corniche beach. Even though Lamb was only sixth overall last year, he won glory for his Team Breitling on Friday with second place.
Martin Sonka, a rookie from the Czech Republic, celebrated his 32nd birthday on Friday with an impressive debut. Sonka took 12th place in his very first race with a time of 1:22.89 – 10.11 seconds behind Arch but just four seconds away from 10th place. Adilson Kindlemann of Brazil, the second rookie this year, was 14th with a time of 1:38.91 that included 14 seconds in penalties.
